HANOI, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- A homemade firecracker explosion has left two dead in northern Vietnam's Bac Ninh province early Monday, Vietnam News Agency reported.

According to the initial report, the explosion occurred in a rented apartment, where investigators found metal cans and pipes suspected of being used in firecracker production.

The local authorities are conducting further investigation into the incident. ■
